ADDED: Virtual town hall on housing

Neighbors:

I wrote to you last week about an upcoming in-person town hall on the More Housing NOW package. Given the considerable interest, I am adding a virtual town hall on March 5. I hope to see you there. Details below.

For the in-person town hall, we are going to take the opportunity to collect black and blue blazers for Community Bridges. They are collecting blazers for our girls who will attend their Career Summit this April. So please consider donating. See the flyer below for more details.

Last week, I created a comprehensive housing package with Councilmember Andrew Friedson (More Housing N.O.W.), which takes five steps to increase the supply of housing, drive down costs, and increase pathways to homeownership for the hard-working residents of Montgomery County. The package consists of 1) a Workforce Housing Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA), 2) a Workforce Housing Opportunity Fund 3) a Office to Housing ZTA and Subdivision Regulation Amendment, 4) a Office to Housing Tax Abatement Bill and 5) a doubling of the County’s investment in the Homeowner Assistance Program.

The Council will hold a public hearing on the proposals on March 11. You may sign up to testify here.

In the meantime, here are a couple resources to get you up to speed on the proposal:

Sincerely,

Councilmember Fani-Gonzalez Signature
